Confidentiality

Initial consultations are handled with complete discretion. Our intake process is designed to collect only the details needed to determine fit, urgency, and next steps. No information is shared with third parties under any circumstances.

All client information is maintained under strict confidentiality protocols. Case files are stored securely, communications are handled through encrypted channels upon request, and investigator access is limited to those directly assigned to the matter.

No. First contact — whether by phone, email, or web form — is handled discreetly. We do not maintain visible client lists, and our billing and communications are designed to protect client privacy at every stage.

Process & Pricing

Pricing is based on scope, urgency, complexity, travel requirements, and reporting needs. Most engagements begin with a tailored estimate following the initial consultation. We do not publish flat rates because no two cases are identical.

Following the consultation, we will provide a written scope of work and fee estimate. Upon agreement, the investigation begins. Clients receive regular status updates and a comprehensive final report upon completion.

Duration varies significantly by case type. Surveillance operations may be completed in days; complex corporate fraud investigations may require weeks or months. We will provide a realistic timeline during the proposal phase.

Most engagements are initiated with a retainer against which hours and expenses are billed. The retainer amount is determined by the estimated scope of the engagement and is discussed during the proposal phase.

Working With Us

A brief confidential consultation is the best way to determine fit. We will ask a few focused questions about your situation and give you an honest assessment of whether and how we can help — with no obligation.

Dark Harbor operates at an executive-grade standard across every dimension: documentation quality, communication, discretion, and professionalism. We serve clients who cannot afford uncertainty, and we hold ourselves to the standard that reflects that.

Dark Harbor is a licensed private investigation firm, not a law firm, so attorney-client privilege does not apply. However, we maintain strict contractual confidentiality with all clients. If your matter involves active litigation, we recommend coordinating through your attorney, as communications directed through counsel may carry additional protections.
